Linda Viertel began spending time on Little Deer Isle in 2014, after living in Los Angeles and Tarrytown, NY. A natural teacher, Linda is a former high school English teacher in Boston and Los Angeles and has also been active in education as head of the P & T Association and School Board for the Ethical Culture Fieldston School. She has been deeply involved in environmental preservation and politics in the Lower Hudson Valley. Linda started The Hudson Independent newspaper in 2005 and chaired the Democratic Committee in Tarrytown.

In addition to these accomplishments, which demonstrate her profound commitment to her community, Linda is a terrific cook and has raised two extraordinarily cool kids. Linda is always one of the most interesting people in the room and a steadfast volunteer.  Linda is on the Strategic Planning, Governance, and Collections and Services Committees. — By Molly Munn.
